Sports and nature are making a big splash in Vallter with the Gran Fondo Pirineus

23 June 2026

This weekend, June 26–28, the Pyrenees will become the epicenter of elite sports and exploration of the region. Under the PIRINEU365 banner, the mountains will showcase their vitality with an unmissable event that blends competitive excitement with respect for nature: the Gran Fondo Pirineus around the Vallter Pass.

This event is not just a competition; it reflects our commitment to diversification and seasonality reduction, transforming mountain resorts into hubs of sporting excellence and macroeconomic drivers for the various regions where we operate.

Gran Fondo Pirineus: The Cycling Challenge Just Outside Vallter

On Sunday, June 28, the spotlight turns to the Ripollès region with the Gran Fondo Pirineus, a high-level cycling race that takes place on the legendary Vallter mountain pass. Starting and finishing in Camprodon, the race invites participants to explore some of the most spectacular and unspoiled landscapes of the Girona Pyrenees.

A tour through the heart of the Ripollès and the Alta Garrotxa

The Gran Fondo offers three distances (144 km, 122 km, and 78 km) that wind through iconic locations where the landscape and silence take center stage:

  • Postcard-perfect scenery: Cyclists will ride through the Bac Valley, a stunning rural setting, and charming villages such as Oix and Beget.
  • The Final Grand Challenge: The race culminates with the climb up the Vallter Pass. This is a first-category mountain pass, one of the most iconic in the area and a classic setting for the queen stages of the Tour of Catalonia. Conquering its steep slopes is the ultimate challenge before receiving the finisher’s medal.

It’s important to remember that, although the mountain pass will be the setting for the epic race, the Vallter resort will officially kick off its summer season on July 1. Starting on that date, the resort will open its doors with new attractions for families, such as the new children’s mountain go-kart track and the PiriTer365 educational space, dedicated to the source of the Ter River and the Cabeceras del Ter y del Freser Natural Park.

PIRINEU365: A region that comes alive every day of the year

At Vallter, the combination of world-class sports and a protected natural environment allows visitors to experience the mountains in a unique way, whether they’re competing or simply enjoying the scenery.

We continue working toward a connected, sustainable Pyrenees region full of adventure. We are PIRINEU365
