On Saturday, 24 January, an external incident affected the operation of the La Molina ski resort. Starting at 2:55 p.m., the resort suffered a generalised power outage that affected the entire ski area. This failure was due exclusively to an incident in the electricity distribution network and was therefore completely beyond the resort’s management and control. The resort was not notified of the incident by the utility company.
Given the impossibility of guaranteeing service continuity under the necessary safety standards, and as it could not be ensured that the incident would not recur during the day, the ski lifts were closed as a preventive measure. At all times, the absolute priority of the operation was the safety of people. For this reason, active communication was maintained to inform users of the situation through the official WhatsApp channel at 3:19 p.m., when the service interruption was announced.
In order to manage the return of skiers as swiftly as possible, the Font Canaleta and Pista Llarga chairlifts were opened at 3:38 p.m. with the sole aim of allowing customers to reach their vehicles. At the same time, the resort’s team reinforced the service by carrying out several customer transfers using La Molina’s own vehicles to speed up the evacuation of the affected areas and minimise the impact of the external outage.
La Molina ski resort sincerely apologises for any inconvenience this power outage may have caused. Although this was a distribution-related incident for which the resort was not responsible, we would like to thank users for their understanding and patience during the management of the incident. We work every day to provide the best possible service and look forward to welcoming you back to our slopes very soon.
