Magnificent return of mountain conditions with a spectacular arrival of meteorological winter.! After a few light snow showers that had already blanketed the slopes, we find ourselves this Christmas week with 50 cm of fresh snow and a forecast that will very easily see this figure increase.
Summary of conditions:

Summary of weather data at 2,000 metres:

Forecast: (meteomuntanya.cat and @meteocattv)

Tomorrow, Wednesday, a brief pause, and from Thursday a new episode of snowfall.
Snowpack:
We find snow on all aspects from 1,200 m. At 2,000 m there are 57 cm and at 2,500 m close to 65 cm. For today, Tuesday and Wednesday, snow transport from a NE wind is expected, which will redistribute depths and increase the instability of the snowpack. Currently we are at risk level 3 out of 5 but trending upwards.

Due to the weather forecast for the coming days, with wind and further significant snowfall, we must be cautious. This snowfall guarantees us a good season, so now is the time to go out safely, preferably in wooded areas and at lower elevations, and to wait for the snowpack to stabilise before tackling the peaks and upper parts of the valleys. In any discipline that takes us into the mountains, we must not forget self-rescue equipment such as the shovel, the avalanche transceiver and the probe.
On Camí vell we find snow almost the entire way. It’s not suitable for people without winter experience. Snowshoes or crampons may come in handy if the trail is very compacted.
The Fontalba trail, at an elevation of 2,000m, has a lot of snow and crosses areas with a high avalanche risk. It is not recommended for people without winter experience. Snowshoes are essential.
The Enginyers trail is now covered in snow and is not recommended throughout the winter season as there are areas where a slip could have fatal consequences.
